Revenue department staff stage sit-in protest in Thoothukudi
Revenue Department staff staged a sit-in protest in front of the Thoothukudi district Collectorate on Wednesday, demanding implementation of the special Acts to protect officials.
The officers demanded the immediate implementation of the special Acts to safeguard the lives and properties of all personnel working in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department and Land Survey Department. They also urged the government to provide enhanced salaries and special allowance to all officers, considering their work nature and responsibilities.
Additionally, they called for all vacant positions in Revenue and Disaster Management Department to be filled on a regular pay scale. These are part of nine key demands raised by the Federation of Revenue Associations.
Over 500 revenue department staff took part in the protest.
Due to the ongoing protest by Revenue Department officials, major works being carried out in the district collectorate and taluk offices got affected. As a result many people who visited these offices for revenue related services turned disappointed.
