Doha, Qatar: Registration has officially opened for the Senyar Festival 2026, offering marine enthusiasts and traditional fishing communities an opportunity to participate in one of Qatar’s most distinctive heritage-inspired sporting events.

According to a post on the official X account of Katara Cultural Village yesterday, the registration closes on March 6, 2026.

Organised annually by the Katara Cultural Village, the Senyar Festival has grown into a prominent fixture on Qatar’s cultural and sporting calendar, blending competition, maritime tradition, and community engagement. 

The festival celebrates Qatar’s long-standing relationship with the sea, particularly the historical practice of group fishing expeditions known locally as “senyar.”

Teams and participants are invited to sign up ahead of the highly anticipated event. The festival typically attracts a wide spectrum of competitors, ranging from seasoned fishermen to younger participants eager to experience Qatar’s seafaring traditions firsthand.
