Siddaramaiah emphasizes the importance of rationality and scientificity in education for societal growth and equal opportunities.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday highlighted the need to foster rationality (wisdom) and scientificity (knowledge) in the education system as it was only the educated who fall prey to superstitions and ignorance.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the 35th annual day celebrations of Kissan Sabha Trust’s Mahatma Gandhi Residential High School and Kissan Sabha Auditorium in Kukkundur-Karkala. Earlier, Mr. Siddaramaiah inaugurated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan, constructed by the social welfare department at a cost of ₹7 crore at Kabettu in Karkala.
He said that without rationality and scientificity in education, one would not grow socially. “If we do not respond to the problems of society, the education we receive is meaningless,” he said.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said out of the 165 promises made during 2013, 158 were fulfilled, while out of the 590 promises made in 2023, 243 were fulfilled so far. In addition, ₹52,000 crore was being spent every year on the five guarantees. People were benefiting from the guarantee schemes irrespective of caste and religion. The government has spent ₹1.2 lakh crore in two years and nine months on these schemes. Along with funding guarantee schemes, the government was undertaking development works too, he added.
Stating that education and equal opportunities should be available to everyone, Mr. Siddaramaiah argued that power and wealth should be distributed in the country. Caste and an unequal system were the factors that kept people from achieving literacy. He asserted that political freedom has no meaning unless social and economic freedom is achieved. The guarantee schemes implemented for equal opportunities for everyone and economic freedom and self-reliance have attracted National attention, he added.
