Rare and uncommon: IMD on inaccurate forecast for monsoon in Delhi

The IMD on Monday issued a press release saying that the failure of numerical models in accurately predicting the advance of monsoon into Delhi is “rare and uncommon”.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a clarification on the department’s inaccurate forecast on arrival of monsoon in Delhi. The weather department called such failure by numerical models in predicting monsoon advance “rare and uncommon”. The weather department in a press release explained the advance of Southwest monsoon over the country and in Delhi. They accepted that this time their predictions were inaccurate for Delhi and said that this happens rarely.
