Doha, Qatar: As the holy month of Ramadan began, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) initiated the activities of its annual Ramadan Campaign under the theme "Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive," the drive involves numerous humanitarian projects and charitable initiatives to be implemented in Qatar and 17 other countries, thanks to the generous contributions of Qatari and non-Qatari donors.
Managing Director, Secretary-General of QRCS, Eng. Ibrahim bin Hashem Al Sada said: "This year, Ramadan comes at a critical time for the region and the whole world, with alarmingly escalating tensions and crises that threaten safe and stable communities and worsen things for the communities that have long been affected by natural disasters and armed conflicts."
Eng. Al Sada stated: " As usual every year, QRCS's Ramadan Campaign is divided into two main parts. The first part focuses on Ramadan Iftar projects, with one-month Ramadan food parcels containing local food staples distributed to families (an average of six persons per family), to help those in need find Iftar and Suhoor meals".
He noted, "QRCS plans to distribute Ramadan food parcels to more than 300,000 people in 18 countries. Several categorised are available as follows: QR 500 (Qatar); QR 475 (Gaza); QR 385 (Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, the West Bank, Chad, Tanzania, and Djibouti; and QR 255 (Yemen, Niger, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan, Mauritania, Albania, Kazakhstan, and Uganda).
For the third consecutive year, QRCS is implementing the On-the-Go Ramadan Iftar initiative, which has Lulu Hypermarket as a sponsor and Katara Cultural Village as a partner".
