Tribune News NetworkDohaWith the participation of Minister of Commerce and Industry His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has organised several sports and entertainment events and activities on the occasion of the Qatar National Sport Day at Katara Cultural Village.The minister was delighted to participate in the events, noting that they reflect Qatar’s leading position, both regionally and globally, as a sports-event destination.This year’s celebrations are of great importance in light of the intensive preparations to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in November, he added.Sheikh Mohammed said dedicating a national day to sports reflects the wise leadership’s belief in the role sports hold to build a healthy society, capable of excelling. Such a society can actively contribute to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 with its focus on human capability as the focus and goal of comprehensive development.The activities organised by the ministry included sports competitions in beach volleyball and physical fitness exercises, which were supervised by specialised coaches. The ministry additionally organised several competitions for children, including games such as climbing, bouncing, and hurdle races.During the National Sport Day activities, the ministry was keen to adhere to all precautionary requirements and measures in order to support national efforts aimed at preserving the health and safety of community members and limiting the spread of COVID-19.The ministry staff expressed their happiness to participate in the sporting events, stressing that the activities contribute to a sense of unity and teamwork.
