QNADohaThe Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) approved the new Qatar Stars League strategy which was submitted by the Qatar Stars League Management to provide competitive and high-quality football and elevate to competitive technical high quality football, starting from the 2023-2024 season.This came during the meeting held today under the chairmanship of QFA President HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, in the presence of all members of the Executive Committee. The meeting discussed all the details related to the project to develop the QNB Stars League.The strategy included several points, including: reducing the number of clubs participating in the Qatar Stars League to 10 clubs to elevate to competitive technical high quality football, starting from the 2023-2024 season; continuation of the promotion and relegation system, with the play-off match; clubs will commit to the new club participation agreement (CPA), which includes the criteria necessary to enhance the level of professionalism for clubs and competitions starting from the 2022-2023 season; distribution of central financial revenues from commercial rights and TV broadcasts for clubs per the new mechanisms and standards, starting from the 2023-2024 season; as well as adopting a new mechanism for playing the national team players with their respective clubs according to criteria determined by the QFA after consulting with the relevant authorities and departments; and the Central Scouting Team (CST) will include experts and specialists to support clubs identify international players and coaches in accordance to their actual value and quality starting from the 2021-2022 season.The mechanism for implementing the strategy is based on holding workshops with clubs, and partnering with world football experts and specialists.The meeting’s agenda also included the briefing of HE the President and members of the Executive Committee on the reports submitted by the various committees of the QFA regarding the work mechanism and uniformity, and other related matters.
