QNADohaQatar Chamber officials held separate discussions with delegations from Brazil and Hong Kong, in Doha on Monday.Qatar Chamber First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari met with the Brazilian trade delegation, led by Head of the International Office at the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Rafael Solimeo. The meeting touched on economic and commercial relations between the two countries and ways to enhance cooperation between private sectors in Qatar and Brazil. In addition, the two sides also explored mutual investment opportunities and avenues to promote Brazilian products in Qatar.Stressing Chamberâs interest in boosting cooperation between Qatari and Brazilian companies in sectors including agriculture, food security, energy, construction and mining, Twar called on Brazilian companies to invest in Qatar.Brazil can be one of Qatarâs prominent trade partners in terms of food security, he said, confirming Qatarâs interest to develop this sector and facilitate achieving self-sufficiency in all products.He said the Chamber encourages Qatari businesspersons and investors to explore opportunities in Brazil and was ready to help Brazilian investors learn about the most attractive sector for investment in Qatar.On his part, Rafael Solimeo said there were broad vistas for cooperation between Qatar and Brazil chambers, noting that this paves the way for both countriesâ companies to establish new partnerships in various sectors.âBrazil is a prime destination for investment and welcomes Qatari investors in many areas like energy, farming, infrastructure, industry, mining, solar power, and technology,â he added.Solimeo invited Qatari companies and investors to attend the âEconomic Forum Brazil and Arab Countriesâ slated to be held on July 4 in Sao Paulo, pointing to the possibility to organise a business visit of a Brazilian delegation to Qatar to bring together businesspersons from both countries to explore new areas for cooperation in business and investment.Qatar Chamber Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba met with the Hong Kong delegation, led by Director-General of Investment Promotion of the Government of Hong Kong Stephen Philips. They discussed partnership opportunities.During the meeting, Athba said that Qatar was a distinct destination for foreign investments and offers many investment facilities and incentives.There are significant opportunities for the private sector in the two countries to cooperate and establish new partnerships, especially in light of the existing projects in Qatar that are related to the host of the FIFA World Cup 2022 or beyond, he said.Athba stressed the Chamberâs concern to encourage Qatari investors to learn about opportunities available in Hong Kong and streamline cooperation between businesspersons from both the countries.He pointed out that the two countries bilateral trade volume hit QR1.25 billion in 2021 despite the pandemic, noting that Hong Kong is an important trade partner of Qatar.Stephen Philips stressed that the private sector in Hong Kong is interested in learning about opportunities available in Qatar and forging joint ventures with Qatari businesspersons in many sectors such as hospitality, tourism, retail, banking, and others. He also affirmed his countryâs aspiration to promote trade exchange with Qatar.Philips reviewed investment incentives offered by his country and presented business facilitates offered for foreign investors, calling Qatari investors to invest in Hong Kong.
