Qatar welcomes ceasefire in Tigray region of Ethiopia

Doha: The State of Qatar welcomed the announcement of a temporary ceasefire in the Tigray region of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and expressed its hope that the announcement would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire.

In a statement Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's hope for the two sides of the conflict to urgently sit start a dialogue, in order to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution that meets the aspirations of the Ethiopian people for development, progress, and prosperity, and contributes to achieving security and stability in Ethiopia and the region.
