Doha, Qatar: Portugal have been crowned champions of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 after claiming a 1-0 win against Austria in the final held at Khalifa International Stadium. The young Portuguese squad clinched their first FIFA U-17 World Cup title in front of 38,901 spectators, marking the end of a historic edition of the youth tournament. Meanwhile, in the third place play-off, Italy narrowly beat Brazil in a penalty shootout.

This was the first FIFA competition to feature 48 teams, making it the biggest edition of the youth tournament to date. A total of 104 matches took place in Aspire Zone, creating a one-of-a-kind football festival like atmosphere that welcomed more than 197,460 spectators over 15 match days.

The tournament’s innovative centralised hosting format allowed spectators to attend up to eight matches a day, encouraged young players from different parts of the world to interact with each other, and enabled talent scouts from leading clubs to discover emerging talent.

For tournament Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 marks another milestone in Qatar’s rich sporting legacy, reaffirming its position as the leading global sports capital.

“By hosting the U-17 World Cup for the first time, Qatar has successfully taken the tournament to new heights, setting new benchmarks in organisational standards. This was a landmark tournament that enabled an unprecedented number of teams to compete at a global stage, reflecting Qatar’s commitment towards youth football development. Throughout the competition, we witnessed the incredible talent of our young players, many of whom are on the path to becoming stars of tomorrow.”
