Tribune News NetworkDohaQatarâs rower Tala Abujbara has qualified for Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the womenâs single sculls event.The final places for the rowing event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were secured following a dramatic day on the water in Lucerne.The Swiss city held the World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta as athletes battled it out for tickets to the Tokyo Games.Earlier in February, Abujbara had won a bronze in the womenâs single sculls event at the 12th Arab Rowing Championships in Tunisia. Abujbara had also shown promise by winning the title at the GCC Rowing Championship in Doha earlier. There was also joy for Greece and Belarus in the womenâs single sculls and Australia and France in the womenâs quadruple sculls as they can now look forward to the Games.Abujbara is the only athlete in rowing from Qatar to have qualified in the rowing discipline.Great Britain with ten crews contingent of 41 members has the most athletes in rowing for the Tokyo Games followed by Australia (10 crews, 40 members), USA (9 crews, 37 athletes), Romania (9 crews, 36 athletes), Netherlands (11 crews of 35 members), New Zealand (9 crews and 32 athletes), Canada (10 crews, 29 members), and China (8 crews with 28 athletes) among other nations.More Related News
