Doha, Qatar: Qatar Museums (QM) was recently honoured as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) World Leader at the International Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice 2025 in London, marking a significant global recognition of the institution's commitment to cultural sustainability.
The prestigious distinction was formally presented on 17 November at the historic House of Lords in Westminster Palace in London, following a competitive process involving more than 100 international nominations.
QM earned the award for its flagship initiative, "Pioneering Sustainability Through Culture, Innovation, and Community Impact," which outlines the institution's comprehensive approach to environmental stewardship, spanning green building excellence, smart energy adoption, and robust community engagement programmes.
Competing against more than 100 international nominations, Qatar Museums emerged as a leading example of how cultural institutions can drive meaningful environmental progress at both national and global levels.
QM's recognized achievements include securing international LEED and GSAS accreditations for its buildings, achieving carbon neutrality certifications, and notably, making the Museum of Islamic Art the first carbon-neutral certified museum in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
