Doha: Ethiopia is seeking a strong partnership with Qatar as it prepares to host the second edition of the Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) on September 8–10 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Ambassador to Qatar H E Faisal Ali Ibrahim has said.
Addressing the media yesterday, the Ethiopian Ambassador noted that the summit is a pivotal event aimed at redefining Africa’s role in global climate action.
“The summit will shift the narrative from Africa as a victim of climate change to a continent offering innovative solutions, with Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative (GLI) as a shining example. Qatar, with its commitment to sustainability under National Vision 2030, is invited to play a key role in this transformative gathering,” he said.
He added that Qatar’s sustainability efforts align closely with ACS2’s objectives. Qatar National Vision 2030 prioritides renewable energy, water security, and environmental stewardship, positioning Qatar as a leader in clean energy and climate finance.
“Ethiopia recognises Qatar’s investments in green infrastructure and its advocacy for global partnerships that balance economic growth with environmental protection. Both nations share a vision for food security, renewable energy, and equitable climate negotiations, making Qatar a vital partner for ACS2,” he said.
