AIADMK criticizes Puducherry govt for sealing room used by former Minister S. Chandira Priyanga. Party secretary A. Anbalagan demands explanation for sealing room, as in past, it remained locked until CM found a replacement. No official explanation from CM or Speaker on reason for sealing room.
The AIADMK has criticised the Puducherry government for sealing a room that was was used by former Minister S. Chandira Priyanga, at the Legislative Assembly.
Party secretary A. Anbalagan, in a statement on Wednesday, said the government should explain why it had sealed the room Ms Priyanga used for official purposes while serving as a Minister. .
Mr. Anbalagan said that the Chief Minister had used his prerogative powers to remove Ms. Priyanga from the Council of Ministers. In such cases, in the past, the room used by the Minister would remain locked until the CM found a replacement. Now however, the government had decided to seal the cabin as if there were “secret things hidden inside,” he alleged in the statement. The government should explain why it found it necessary to seal the room, he demanded.
After Ms. Priyanga was dropped from the Cabinet, the Assembly Secretary first sealed the room and subsequently the Chief Minister’s Private Secretary placed another seal on the room. There has been no official explanation from the office of the Chief Minister or Speaker on the reason for sealing the room.
