Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be joined by Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson, Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Wayne Ewasko, FederalFamilies, Children and Social Development Minister Karina Gould and Northern AffairsMinister Dan Vandal for the announcement.
In August 2021, the provincial government announced a bilateral childcare funding agreement with the federal government that would help lower the cost of childcare in the province.
The goal was to create an average of $10 a day for regulated childcare spaces in the province by 2023 and a 50 per cent reduction in fees on average for parents of children six-years-old and up by the end of 2022.
