Muneeswaran, the prime accused in the murder of a mother-daughter duo P. Seethalakshmi, 70, and V. Ramajayanthi, 48, from Melanabipuram, on March 3, 2025, was shot below the knee, the police said.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Albert John had formed special teams to track down the preparators in the murder-for-gain case, and during their investigation, they received a crucial lead about a suspect’s hideout. They located Muneeswaran, and as he was being arrested, he allegedly attacked Sub-Inspector Muthuraj and Constable Joyson Navadhas, and was shot below the knee.
Efforts were underway to apprehend the other two suspects in the crime.
Muneeswaran was admitted to the Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The police officials who were attacked were also hospitalised for their injuries.
