Pope questioned on sex abuse, 'loving the enemy': 'How do we talk to the abusers for whom we feel revulsion?'
Fox News
The Pope admitted to not having an easy answer when asked how Christians are to follow Jesus' command to "love your enemy" regarding sexual abusers.
"The Gospel asks us to love, but how do we love at the same time people who have experienced abuse and their abusers?" a Jesuit asked the pope. "God loves everyone. He loves them, too. But what about us?" Timothy Nerozzi is a writer for Fox News Digital. You can follow him on Twitter @timothynerozzi and can email him at timothy.nerozzi@fox.com
The question is a reference to the Biblical passage Matthew 5:44 — part of the Sermon on the Mount — in which Jesus says, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you."
