
Pollution spikes to alarming levels in Noida; AQI in ‘severe’ category

The combination of Diwali firecrackers and stubble burning in the neighbouring states have triggered the pollution levels in Noida, pushing the air quality in ‘severe’ or ‘hazardous’ category.
Two days after Diwali, the Air Quality Index (AQI) spiked to alarming levels across Noida on Saturday, November 6. As per the Ministry Earth Sciences’ SAFAR-India application, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Noida slipped to the ‘severe’ category. Reportedly, Noida’s AQI touched ‘severe’ category for the first time this season on Diwali.
According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), on November 3, the city recorded an AQI of 353 (very poor), increasing to 419 (severe) on Diwali and 470 (severe) on Friday.
