Police identify body of woman reported missing in Quebec City

Quebec City police have confirmed that the remains recovered from the St. Lawrence River last week are those of Susana Rocha Cruz, who had been missing since mid-January.
Police are investigating the 44-year-old woman’s death as a homicide, the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) said in a news release published Tuesday.
Rocha Cruz was last seen on Jan. 7, around 9:50 p.m. on Villieu Street in the Sainte-Foy area, according to the SPVQ.
Although the SPVQ suspected the body provincial police divers found last week belonged to Rocha Cruz, they were waiting for the results of the autopsy before confirming her identity.
A 43-year-old man was arrested last week and charged with assault causing bodily harm in connection with her death.
He is expected to appear in court again on Tuesday to face further charges.
