The Ontario mother who was charged after her son was swept down the Grand River during flooding in February 2018 has set a date to enter a plea in the case.
Michelle Hanson will return to court on Nov. 23.
Hanson was charged with one count each of impaired driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
Her three-year-old son, Kaden Young, died during a period of heavy flooding near Hanson's home west of Orangeville. Just before 1 a.m. ET on Feb. 21, 2018, police allege, Hanson drove around a road closure sign about a kilometre from their home.
Hanson's van ended up in the Grand River. Police say that as she and Kaden were getting out of the van, she lost her grip on her son and he was swept away. His body was recovered two months later.
Police did not release the results of an autopsy to determine cause of death.
In July 2019, Hanson was ordered to stand trial.
