
Perseverance rover scouts spot for 1st mission that will launch from Mars

The Perseverance rover is collecting samples on Mars and scouting locations where future missions can land -- and launch from -- the red planet, to return precious Martian samples to Earth for the first time.
In addition to collecting the first samples from an ancient river delta on the red planet, the robotic explorer has been scouting out flat areas around Jezero Crater that could serve as a landing site for the Mars Sample Return Campaign.
