The Puducherry government launches peri urban water supply schemes to enhance water access in three neighborhoods.
The Puducherry government has launched peri urban water supply augmentation schemes across three neighbourhoods recently.
At Vineeth Nagar in Villianur, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy laid the foundation for the construction of a 10 lakh-litre overhead water tank and treatment plant at an estimated cost of ₹22 crore in the presence of Public Works Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, DMK convenor and Leader of Opposition R. Siva and PWD officials.
The project is expected to meet the water needs of people of Uththiravaginipet and adjoining villages and also absorb any increased demand over the next couple of decades, a statement from Mr. Siva, who represents the Villianur Assembly constituency said.
K.Veeraselvam, PWD Chief Engineer, R. Sundaramoorthy, Superintending Engineer and other officials participated.
On Friday last, the Chief Minister had led the ‘bhoomi puja’ ceremony for work on ‘Comprehensive Water Supply Scheme’ for Jayaram Nagar sub-zone and adjoining areas, and Kanuvapet and neighbouring places.
