Islamabad: Pakistan's headline inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 4.1 percent year-on-year in July, up from 3.2 percent in June, official data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed on Friday.

On a month-on-month basis, CPI inflation increased by 2.9 percent in July, compared to a rise of 0.2 percent in the previous month. The CPI had stood at 11.09 percent in July 2024.

Pakistan's inflation has been on a declining trend since reaching a record high of 38 percent in May 2023. Despite the uptick in July, the latest figure remains within the government's projected range of 3.5 to 4.5 percent, backed by stable prices and improved supply conditions.

According to PBS, urban inflation climbed to 4.4 percent year-on-year in July, while rural inflation was recorded at 3.5 percent. On a monthly basis, urban inflation increased by 3.4 percent and rural inflation by 2.2 percent.
