Owaisi says AIMIM will field Atiq Ahmad in 2022 UP election, talks on with Mukhtar Ansari

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said his party will field gangster-turned-politician and former Lok Sabha MP Atiq Ahmad in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. Talks are also on with another muscleman politician, Mukhtar Ansari, about giving him a ticket.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said his party would field don-turned-politician and former Lok Sabha MP Atiq Ahmad (also spelt as Ateeq Ahmad) in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. On fielding another muscleman politician from Uttar Pradesh, Mukhtar Ansari, in the assembly polls, Owaisi said his party was in talks with the MLA for the same.
