COVID cases are mounting across the Americas with more than 37,000 people dead in the past week.
COVID-19 infections continue to surge throughout the Americas, the director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) said on Wednesday, with more than 1.3 million new cases registered this past week and more than 37,000 thousand deaths. During PAHO’s weekly news conference, the organisation’s director, Carissa Etienne, said some countries in the region are seeing an increase in cases while others are seeing a decline, but the region as a whole continues to be heavily impacted by the pandemic. “More than half of all global deaths reported over the last week were in the Americas – a sober reminder of the human toll of this pandemic,” Etienne said.More Related News
