The actor won his first ever Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for his performance as Admiral Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. The film also won Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. Robert Downey Jr not only won the award, he also won hearts with his impressive acceptance speech. "I'd like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy - in that order," he said.
