Organs from an eight-year-old girl in Coimbatore save multiple lives following her brain death and donation.
Organs harvested from an eight-year-old girl from Coimbatore after she was declared brain dead gave a fresh lease of life to several persons.
The donor has been identified as S. Venbha, daughter of S. Suganya and T. Santhosh, councillor of Ward 73 of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and chairman of the Town Planning Committee of the civic body.
According to a release from Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, Venbha fell unconscious on Monday (February 23, 2026) due to high blood pressure and brain haemorrhage. She was taken to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to Kovai Medical Center and Hospital for treatment. She did not respond, and a team of doctors declared her brain dead on Tuesday (February 24, 2026).
The hospital said Mr. Santhosh and Ms. Suganya came forward to donate their daughter’s organs. A team of multi-organ transplant surgeons harvested the liver, kidneys, eyes, bone and skin of the deceased in accordance with the guidelines of the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu.
The Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu allotted the liver and one kidney to Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, where they were transplanted into needy patients. The other kidney, eyes, bone and skin were sent to private hospitals in Coimbatore.
