Special prayers in Karnataka mosques and temples for soldiers involved in ‘Operation Sindoor’ after Pahalgam terror attack.
In the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack, Minister for Minority Welfare Zameer Ahmed Khan said that special prayers will be held on Friday (May 9, 2025) in mosques across Karnataka for Indian soldiers engaged in ‘Operation Sindoor’, a mission undertaken to protect the nation.
The directive comes in the wake of India’s military action carried out on May 7, targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Mr. Khan mentioned that special Friday prayers would be held in all mosques under the jurisdiction of the Waqf Board, as well as other mosques in Karnataka, for the well-being and strength of the country’s brave soldiers.
Mr. Khan has also written a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of the Waqf Board instructing them to hold prayers in mosques.
On May 7, Karnataka Muzrai and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy directed the Endowment Department Commissioner to organise special prayers in all temples under the Muzrai Department in honour of the Indian army. The operation was reportedly in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 persons lost their lives.
