Doha: Ooredoo has announced it has renewed its strategic partnership agreement with the Qatar Cancer Society for 2021, which will provide valuable support for the many initiatives undertaken by the charity throughout the year.
Qatar Cancer Society, founded in 1997, aims to prevent cancer by raising awareness of the disease and promoting the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle; supporting, empowering, and advocating for those living with the disease; and engaging in professional development and scientific development research. Each year, the Society runs many initiatives with the above aims in mind. The next initiative will be the ‘Blossom’ campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer, one of the most common types of cancer among women in Qatar and worldwide.
The campaign, targeting all sectors of Qatari society throughout the month, aims to emphasise the importance of periodic examination for early detection, spread the culture of a healthy lifestyle to prevent the disease, and to highlight health services available in Qatar. It would also emphasise the Society’s role in providing psychological and financial support to cancer patients and improving the experiences of individuals living with cancer.
