Ontario Premier Doug Ford is expected to make an announcement Monday morning, one week after sources told CTV News Toronto the province was hoping to lift some COVID-19 measures earlier than expected.
Ford will be joined at Queen’s Park by Health Minister Christine Elliott and Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore.
The news conference will be streamed live at 9:30 a.m. on CTVNewsToronto.ca and on the CTV News app.
On Thursday, multiple sources confirmed to CTV News Toronto that the premier personally asked for new regulations to be drawn up that would fast-track Ontario’s economic reopening.
The next phase of reopening is supposed to start on Feb. 21. At this time, social gathering limits will increase to 25 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. Capacity limits will also be lifted in indoor settings where proof of vaccination is required.
