
One man dead, one person in custody in Sudbury, homicide investigation underway

A 20-year-old man is dead following a stabbing near the intersection of Cabot Street and Hearn Avenue in Greater Sudbury Friday evening.
On Feb. 2 shortly before 8 p.m., police and emergency medical personnel responded to a weapon’s complaint in the area.
“A 20-year-old male was taken to Health Sciences North by Emergency Medical Services for treatment of edged weapon injuries,” said the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS), in a news release early Saturday morning.
“The victim was later pronounced deceased.”
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of the next-of-kin.
The GSPS said detectives from its major crimes and criminal investigation divisions have begun a homicide investigation.
“One person has been taken into custody and will appear in Weekend & Statutory Holiday Court on Saturday morning,” said police.
