One-fifth of congregations in the United Methodist Church have announced schism with the larger conference, buying out their church property and cutting ties.
"I don’t think any of us want to see any of our churches leave," said president of the UMC's Council of Bishops, Thomas Bickerton. Timothy Nerozzi is a writer for Fox News Digital. You can follow him on Twitter @timothynerozzi and can email him at timothy.nerozzi@fox.com
He continued, "We’re called to be the body of Christ, we’re called to be unified. There’s never been a time when the church has not been without conflict, but there’s been a way we’ve worked through that."
