A fatal crash on Friday morning involving two passenger vehicles on Highway 17 in West Nipissing has killed one and sent another to hospital.
Emergency crews were called to the scene between Sudbury and Verner around 7 a.m. Aug. 23, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.
It is unclear what caused the crash, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Highway 17 will be closed in both directions during the investigation and (motorists) are advised to obtain information and detours," OPP said.
All lanes are closed between Deer Lake Road in Kirkpatrick Township and Highway 575 in Verner, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation said on its traveller information website.
An investigation into the crash is underway with help from collision reconstructionists and members of the traffic collision investigation team.
There is no estimated reopening time.
