Waterloo regional police are investigating a deadly shooting in Kitchener.

Waterloo regional police are investigating a deadly shooting in Kitchener.

Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, police said they were in the area of Ottawa Street and River Road for reports of shooting.

They said that one person had been taken to hospital.

In a 6:30 a.m. update, police said that a male has been pronounced dead.

An increased police presence is expected in the area of 1020 Ottawa Street North throughout the day and businesses in the plaza could be impacted.

Police tape could be seen surrounding the McDonalds and adjacent parking lot Wednesday morning, with a white SUV behind the tape.
