In Odisha, Sonepur civic body officials took away Tarash Bagh's four cows to put them in the Local Kanji house under the ‘Gow Shraddha’ program on Saturday.
A poor elderly woman on Saturday was seen urging the Sonepur district collector in Odisha to intervene and get back her four cows which were taken away by the civic body authorities.
The woman identified as Tarash Bagh, despite surviving by begging, used to feed four stray cattle from her meager income and had developed an emotional bond with the cows.
Bagh has neither a family nor a house to live in. During the day time, she used to beg for a livelihood and at night sleep outside in the corridor of Sonepur district hospital.
Such was her fondness towards the cows; she even named them ‘Siga’. On some occasions, Bagh herself remained hungry to feed the cows on time.
However, Bagh was shaken to the core after the civic body officials took away the cows to put them in the Local Kanji house under the ‘Gow Shraddha’ program.
Filled with excruciating agony, Bagh, with tears in her eyes, reached the district collector Sunil Naravane's office and pleaded with him by lying in front of his vehicle to intervene and get back her cows.
Seeing her love for the cows, Naravane promised to look into the matter before leaving the premises.
