
NYC mayor vows consequences for firefighters if they skipped work to protest vaccine mandate after 2,300 called out sick

Any firefighters feigning illness to protest New York City's Covid-19 vaccine mandate are "doing an immense disservice" to the city, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday night.
The comment came after hundreds of firefighters called in sick Monday as the vaccine mandate went into effect, bringing the total number of sickouts in the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to 2,300, Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro said at a news conference.
