NY PPE manufacturer says pandemic highlights importance of domestic manufacturing amid increased outsourcing
Fox News
The president of a New York PPE manufacturer warns of future disruption if America doesn't retain a manufacturing base on "The Ingraham Angle."
Liberatore told host Laura Ingraham that 99% of the PPE used in the U.S. is either Asia-sourced or Asia-produced – which caused an immediate snag when transoceanic trade ground to a halt early in the pandemic.
"My business was started in 1985 by my father Anthony. I joined in ’86 and ever since the mid-’80s, we have had a domestic supply chain, so we always purchased all of our raw materials and any essential components from companies located in the United States," he said.
Host Laura Ingraham noted many other companies source materials for many of their products, even if American-made, from China, India or the Philippines.
