A 29-year-old in North Bay is facing several disturbing charges – including manslaughter – in a case where he is accused of giving young people drugs, then sexually assaulting them.
A 29-year-old in North Bay is facing several disturbing charges – including manslaughter – in a case where he is accused of giving young people drugs, then sexually assaulting them.
In one case, a young person died of a drug overdose.
"After a lengthy police investigation, members of the North Bay Police criminal investigation unit arrested the accused on (Aug. 7)," North Bay police said in a news release Friday.
"On multiple occasions in 2022, the accused procured and provided illegal drugs to the victims and subsequently performed sexual offences on and with the victims.
"In one incident, the accused procured and provided illegal drugs to one of the victims, which was consumed, and resulted in the victim’s overdose death."
The victim died in early 2022, police said.
Cody Secord, of North Bay and Powassan, is charged with manslaughter, 14 counts of drug trafficking, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of invitation to sexual touching, one count of voyeurism, three counts of householder permitting sexual activity, eight counts of failing to comply with prohibition order regarding children, one count of making child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
