A family dispute related to a property matter turned ugly over the weekend when a 71-year-old hit their head on the pavement after being pushed.
A family dispute related to a property matter turned ugly over the weekend when a 71-year-old hit their head on the pavement after being pushed.
The incident took place around 2 p.m. Sept. 20 on Hillside Drive West in the community of Serpent River First Nation.
Ontario Provincial Police from Manitoulin and East Algoma responded and learned that "an argument (had) ensued between two families over property-related matters," police said in a news release Monday.
"During the heated argument, a 71-year-old relative was pushed, fell backwards and hit their head on the pavement."
The senior and the accused in the case were taken separately to hospital in Blind River via Algoma Paramedic Services. The accused received a slap to the head from an elder uncle, police said.
"Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries," police said.
A 39-year-old from Serpent River First Nation has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon.
