Demonstrations were held nationwide on Saturday, which marked the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution. Organizers behind the April 19 marches include a network of affiliated groups called "50501" (meaning 50 protests in 50 states, 1 movement). Thomas Bassford, an 80-year-old retired mason from Maine who attended a reenactment of the Battles of Lexington and Concord on Saturday, told the Associated Press that he believed Americans today are under attack from their own government and need to stand up against it.
