Nikki Haley says Trump 'let us down'

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in an interview published Friday that former President Donald Trump let his supporters down.

"He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again," she said of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots that resulted in the deaths of five Americans, including a Capitol Police officer. Haley added later that she believes Trump's base still remains loyal to the former president, and the Republican Party will never be the same after the 45th president, nor does she think it should be.
