LOS ANGELES — The son of director Rob Reiner, who is accused of killing his parents in their Los Angeles home last year, pleaded not guilty to two murder counts at an arraignment Monday.
Nick Reiner, 32, was slumped over in a tan jumpsuit with his hair closely shaven during the hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court. He sat in a glass box and spoke to the court only to agree to waive his right to a speedy trial.
He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the Dec. 14 stabbing deaths of Rob Reiner, a beloved director, and his wife, a photographer and movie producer, Michele Singer Reiner.
Judge Teresa McGonigle entered two pleas of not guilty into the record upon Nick Reiner’s agreement.
The arraignment had been set for Jan. 7, but it was delayed after his criminal defense attorney, Alan Jackson, asked to be removed from the case.

The Trump-appointed board of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts voted unanimously Monday to shutter the arts mecca for two years for renovations.“Major renovations are required to keep the facility functional, and that will start right after July 4,” the center's vice president of public relations, Roma Daravi, said in a statement.“This project will transform the Center into a world-class destination worthy of the nation’s legacy and future — a landmark where every American is welcome to experience artistic excellence and premiere entertainment,” Daravi said
