Doha, Qatar: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in partnership with the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, will organise an international symposium titled “Human Rights at the Core of Social Development… Toward a Sustainable Future” at 10am on November 5, at the Qatar National Convention Centre. 

The symposium is being held on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development, which Doha will host from November 4 to 6, 2025.

Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee H E Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, affirmed that strengthening the right to social development is one of the Committee’s highest priorities. She added that Qatar’s Permanent Constitution has laid a solid foundation for social development. 

Al-Attiyah also noted that Qatar National Vision 2030—particularly its second pillar, “Social Development”—aims to enhance and develop the social sector through three key goals: social protection and care, strengthening social structure, and advancing international cooperation.

She highlighted that the issue of social development has garnered increasing attention from the international community since the World Summit for Social Development held in Copenhagen in 1995.
