A newly formed White House council to promote competition across the US economy and lower costs for American families is holding its first meeting on Friday in the Roosevelt Room at the White House.
The White House will be rolling out a new website for this council, called the White House Competition Council, on Friday, a White House official told CNN. The group, which consists of eight Cabinet members and the chairs of seven independent agencies, was formed following an executive order President Joe Biden signed in July to promote competition within the economy. In the meeting, National Economic Council Director Brian Deese "will drive home that promoting competition is a cornerstone of POTUS' Build Back Better agenda, and emphasize that it plays a key role in delivering on the (administration's) strategy to drive down prices for consumers," the official said.
