In Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa, overnight lows will be near the freezing mark, making for chilly evening festivities.
Toronto will expect snow to develop in the afternoon and continue into the night, with a temperature slightly above 0 C.
Further west, the forecast low in Sudbury is -3 C with minimal precipitation, while Kitchener will see a similar temperature, but upward of four centimetres of snow showers.
Winnipeg will be cloudy with an expected overnight low of -12 C and a 25 per cent chance of precipitation.
Frigid conditions appear to be in the cards for Saskatoon, Regina and Edmonton, as all three cities will see forecasted lows near -20 C with minimal precipitation, while Calgary will be slightly warmer, a low of -13 C, but facing potential snow showers.
Vancouver’s New Year’s Eve low is predicted to be 3 C and mostly cloudy, with a 25 per cent chance of rain.
