Joseph Mor Gregorious was selected unopposed as metropolitan trustee (Malankara Metropolitan), while Father Roy George Kattachira and Thampu George Thukalan were elected clergy trustee and laity trustee respectively. Jacob C. Mathew Chakkarakkat was elected as secretary of the Church.
New office-bearers of the Jacobite Syrian Church were elected on Tuesday at a meeting of the Syrian Jacobite Church Association held at Puthen Cruz.
Joseph Mor Gregorious was selected unopposed as metropolitan trustee (Malankara Metropolitan), while Father Roy George Kattachira and Thampu George Thukalan were elected clergy trustee and laity trustee respectively. Jacob C. Mathew Chakkarakkat was elected as secretary of the Church.
A total of 2,169 representatives from parishes across the country participated in the poll process. The existing office-bearers will function till November 19. Tuesday’s meeting was inaugurated by Baselios Thomas-I Metropolitan and was attended by among others 18 metropolitans of the Church.
