Labour reforms under the Code of Wages, 2019 are unlikely to be implemented anytime soon due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Centre had earlier deferred the implementation of the labour reforms that were supposed to come into effect from April 1. The ongoing Covid-19 crisis has kept states busy, and they are now going slow on readying the framework for the implementation of the four labour codes, reported The Economic Times. While the Centre was pushing states earlier to frame the draft rules quickly, it is no longer pursuing states with the same interest.
