Nets seem to avoid Kyrie Irving injury disaster
NY Post
Kyrie Irving missed Wednesday’s game against San Antonio with a facial contusion, but the injury isn’t expected to be serious and the Nets are hopeful of having the All-Star point guard back by the weekend.
“Kyrie’s scans were clear fortunately,” coach Steve Nash said. “No concussion, nothing on the scans. Just precautionary. Not gonna go [vs. the Spurs].” Irving suffered the injury taking an elbow to the face from Nikola Vucevic during the third quarter of Tuesday’s victory in Chicago. He’s expected to be fit for this weekend’s back-to-back against the Bulls and Cavaliers, potentially letting him get some much-needed time on court with Kevin Durant and James Harden.
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.
