
Nearly 20,000 Toyota vehicles recalled in Canada due to risk of rear doors opening while driving

Toyota is recalling nearly 20,000 vehicles in Canada for risk of rear doors opening while driving, posing a risk of injury.
“On certain vehicles, water could leak into the rear door handle and cause the door opener switch to short circuit. If this happens, the rear door could open unexpectedly while driving,” the updated notice by Transport Canada says.

Toyota recommends that consumers enable the automatic door locking function through the vehicle’s head unit to reduce the risk of the rear door opening while driving.
Additionally, the carmaker will advise owners by mail to take the vehicle to a dealership to modify the rear door switch circuits.
