Washington's season opener against the visiting New York Mets on Thursday was postponed "because of ongoing contact tracing involving members of the Nationals organization," Major League Baseball announced.
The game will not be made up on Friday, which initially was slated to be a day off for both clubs. The series is expected to continue on Saturday and Sunday. Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo announced Wednesday that one player tested positive for COVID-19, and four teammates as well as an unnamed staff member were deemed to be close contacts.More Related News
